Deion Sanders has got his team fired off like a bullet to start this season with a win over Texas Christian University and Nebraska. As we look ahead to this Saturday and Colorado's matchup against Colorado State, we can all assume that Colorado will blow the Rams out of the water.
Looking at the rest of the Buffalo's schedule, while unlikely, the Buffs could go undefeated this season and find themselves in the college football playoffs. It is a stretch, but let's be honest; the media would love to get Deion Sanders into the college football playoffs. Next season, Colorado will be moving from the Pac-12 to the Big-12 as the college football landscape shifts into a new era of Super Conferences. Depending on how well Dion's Buffaloes perform this season, I think they need to jump to the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma or to the Big-10 with USC and UCLA. Dion will attract big names and sponsors and make a lot of money for whatever conference his Buffaloes are a member of. Unless Colorado finds themselves in the Big-10 or the SEC by the time Dion's contract runs out, I see Dion moving on from Colorado and going to a Big-10 or an SEC program. Therefore, the smartest move for the University would be to move to either one of those conferences. Colorado is currently the 18th team in the nation, but over the next three games against their in-state rival, #13 Oregon, and #5 Southern California, they could very well find themselves in a top five position if they win out. Like I said, it is a hard thing to go undefeated in a season. While the probability of making the College Football Playoffs is low for Colorado, you cannot dismiss that it is a possibility for them. In the meantime, unless you are a Colorado State fan, we need to sit back and appreciate what Dion is doing in Colorado.
