This week's driver profile comes to you via audience request! Our driver does not currently compete full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, but if he isn't already on your radar, you should stick him on there. This week, we introduce you to Zane Smith—the driver for the #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford in the Craftsman Truck Series and defending champion. Zane Smith has been having quite the season so far. He sits at #4 in the Craftsman Truck Series standings and is only nineteen points behind the series leader, Corey Heim. Smith has five top-ten finishes, five top-five finishes, and two wins, and we still have eleven races left this year. If history repeats itself, he has another two or three wins left in him this year. One of his wins this season fell at the season opener at Daytona in the NextEra Energy 250 and another at the Circuit of the Americas in the XPEL 225. Since signing on Smith, the #38 Ford has won six races for Front Row. Smith is no stranger to winning championships. Last season he won the regular season and the playoff championship in his first season driving the #38 truck for Front Row Motorsports. It is no surprise he is currently in contention to win his second straight championship. Before signing on with Front Row, Smith had a lot of success with GMS Racing. He started driving full-time for the team in the 2020 season and had a stellar rookie season with seven top-five finishes, thirteen top-ten finishes, and two wins at Michigan and Dover. He finished second in the series in 2020. He would carry that success over to the 2021 season, where he would put up fourteen top-ten finishes, three top-five finishes, and one win at Martinsville, ultimately finishing in second for the second straight season. Smith does have some experience at the Xfinity and Cup level. Smith has found his way driving the #36 and #38 cars for Front Row Motorsports in five races, including the Coca-Cola 600, where he had a top-ten finish, and the Daytona 500, where he had a top-fifteen finish. He also competed in the #51 car for Rick Ware Racing in Martinsville this year. In 2019, Zane drove part-time for JR Motorsports in the #8 car at the Xfinity level. In seven of the ten races he competed in that season, he finished in the top-ten. After the 2019 season, Smith did not return to Xfinity until 2021, where he competed at Dover for Kaulig Racing in the #11 Chevy. Smith is an anomaly. Generally speaking, drivers only get to compete at the cup level once they have competed full-time in the Xfinity Series. On As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Smith's experience at the Xfinity level consists of eleven races with seven top-ten finishes over two years. With his success in the Truck Series and lively performances in the Xfinity Series, it's no wonder Cup teams are giving him a shot already. Zane is only 24 years old and has proven that he has significant potential in the racing world. In each series he enters, he dominates. The Huntington Beach Native has won Rookie of the Year Awards in the CARS Super Late Model Tour, the ARCA Racing Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series. A clean sweep. Smith has been around racing for essentially his entire life. His father owned and operated a race shop out of Huntington Beach, California, and an off-road racing team. At age three, he began racing BMX bikes and got into kart racing at the ripe 'ole age of five. Around ten or eleven years old, he got into Legends Car Racing and eventually moved up to driving Super Late Model cars in 2015. Though Smith is not competing in the Cup Series full-time just yet, it is only a matter of time before we see him out there competing with some of our favorite drivers. How many individuals can say in their first three seasons competing at any NASCAR level, they have found themselves in three straight final four appearances with one championship under their belt and are contending to make it four straight appearances? As I said earlier, Smith is an anomaly. Everywhere he goes, no matter the series, he finds success. If he isn't on your radar, you better hop on the bandwagon now. Zane has a high ceiling in this industry, and we may see him winning championships at the Cup level one day. The next time you can see Smith on the track is Friday, June 23rd, at Nashville Superspeedway in the Rackley Roofing 200. In 2021, he finished 4th in this race, and in 2022 finished 2nd. We expect more of the same out of Smith! You can catch the race LIVE on Peacock! Visit our Online Store! The ΔΑΔΔΨ adidas performance polo shirt
