Is There Hope For The Bears?

​Since 1985, the Chicago Bears have consistently managed to keep the fan base hopeful. Things are always looking up. The Fanbase has had a taste of what it is like to win it all, so they know that the organization can win it all again. Year after year, the cycle repeats itself. The organization makes moves that look good in the off-season. We draft a few good playmakers. And we switch up our coach every few years, who surely cannot do worse than the previous.

I know that I am preaching to the choir here, but for the Chicago Bears to be successful, we need a consistent coach or quarterback, and if we could manage to get both, that would be even better. Take a look at the teams across the league that have had the same quarterback and same coach for years on end. For the most part, those teams are in the playoff mix.

Eberflus is not our guy unless something changes significantly before the end of the season. And by something significantly happening, I mean winning out and making the playoffs. I'm still on the boat that Justin Fields is our quarterback going into the future. I would like to see him with a competent coach before we completely dismiss him as our franchise quarterback.

It is too early, and we have seen way too little from Bagent to begin the conversation on whether or not he should take Fields' position as starting quarterback. 162 passing yards, a touchdown throw, no interceptions, and a win give me the confidence to say we've got a decent backup quarterback. Again, before anything is definite, we need to see more from Tyson Bagen, and luckily, we will get that opportunity next week. 

D'onta Foreman looked like an absolute stud with his three touchdowns. He took "Next Man Up" to a different level. He had the best game of his life in a PPR fantasy league! Unfortunately for the person who has him on their team in my league, they had him riding the bench. 

The defense looked competent this weekend, holding the Raiders to just 12 points, the lowest a team has scored on us this season. They also had three interceptions, the most they have had in a game this season, one of which was a pick-six. In addition, they held the Raiders to 235 total yards, the second lowest amount of yards a team has put up on us all season. 

No, I know this Raiders team is down, and they were playing with a backup quarterback, but a win is a win. Looking to the north, it makes me happy to see that Green Bay is also struggling. I am not holding onto too much hope, but I am looking forward to the last game of the season when we head up to Lambeau. My biggest fear is that we win this game, and because we win, the organization decides to keep Eberflus around for another year. That would be my worst nightmare. I know that is not a reasonable prediction, but we can't completely take it out of the realm of possibility.

I have become superstitious this season because, in both wins, I have been wearing my Justin Fields jersey. I won't take credit for both wins, but it is quite a coincidence.

To finish off, I'm not sure how I feel about the rest of the season. Part of me is excited that we have won two games this season, and I'm content with that, but another part does not want to sit down every Sunday and watch a losing team. My family is questioning my mental health because of this freaking organization. I will continue to look forward to the future just for my hopes and dreams to be crushed.
