It's Time To Sell The Team, Ms. McCaskey

When does it end? Does it get any better? Is there any hope left to cling onto? These are all questions that, if you're a Chicago Bears fan, you are probably asking yourself after the absurdity of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. The pain seems never to end. When you think things are looking up, they get worse. Just when we have hope to cling onto, it slips away. 

Offensively, I was sincerely impressed. Justin Fields looked calm, cool, and collected. Flustered at times, but that happens when you have the offensive line that we have, but ultimately he looked comfortable. We did finally have a running back rush for over 100 yards! It would have been nice to see Herbert in the back of the endzone, but I'll take what I can get. Finally, D.J. Moore looked like the player we all expected him to be! 

The second-half performance (really just the fourth quarter) is the #1 reason why Eberflus should have been fired before leaving the building. If you are a head coach in the NFL, especially a defensive specialist, you should be able to hold onto a three-possession lead for basically one quarter. Not Eberflus. 

I'm not Ryan Poles, but I need help understanding keeping Eberflus around. We know where this season is headed, and we know that Eberflus is making the door he is about to walk out of unless there are DRAMATIC changes. If I were Ryan Poles, I'd make whatever moves I felt like making other than trading away draft picks. It's not like we will win anything, so why not make a few changes just to see what happens? 

One thing is for sure: the situation we are currently in cannot get any worse. I'm trying to think of a scenario where it could worsen. It's not like we are winning games anyways. Would it suck if Justin Fields got hurt? Yes, absolutely. But would it change anything? Maybe we'd get beat by 10 points instead of 3. All I know is that I'm down bad. 

The one thing we can look forward to is this offseason. At this rate, we will have the #1 and #2 pick in the draft, so we will have our pick of the litter. The question as we advance is, do we pick up Caleb Williams with one of those picks? I know the fanbase is torn on this debate, but in my opinion, Justin Fields is still our guy, and this last game showed us that he is still our guy. His two coaches have been Matt Nagy and Matt Eberflus, so how much of the team's struggles can we put on Fields? 

If the Bears were to trade away Fields, I could understand why because he would have spent his first three seasons in the league with incompetent coaches, thus stunting his development as an NFL quarterback. I still think he can be very good under the right coaching regime, but he has a lot of catching up because of the Bears' inability to invest in the right coach. I think this can also be said for Mitch Trubisky, who's career I believe Matt Nagy ruined.

I'll end on this. Virginia McCaskey needs to sell the team. I get that she is a Halas, and there's that family connection that's cool, but winning games is much cooler than having the oldest ownership regime in the league. It is time to bring somebody in who actually cares about winning. 

Personally, I think the best option for the next owner of the Chicago Bears is Donald Trump, and before you all get mad at me, here's why:

1. Donald Trump is a winner. He doesn't like to lose. I don't care what side you sit on, we can all agree on that.
2. Illinois is historically a blue state. If Trump could make the Chicago Bears a winning team, I guarantee he would win Illinois in the next election.
3. We'd already be in Arlington Heights if he were the owner.

We'd have a new, state-of-the-art stadium that's unlike anything the league has ever seen. Tell me I'm wrong? Put your political opinions aside. Think about what's best for the team. Originally, I started writing this last paragraph as a joke, but it honestly isn't the worst idea I've ever had. Tell me what y'all think in the comments.
