Oklahoma Takes Down Alabama

​When Oklahoma joined the SEC, it was no secret that two or three teams generally dominated the conference. Georga and Alabama are the primary powerhouses, with teams like LSU and Florida filtering into the #1 spot. Coming into the season, I was very high on Kalen Deboer and the Crimson Tide. Though they had just lost Saban due to retirement, Deboer seemed like a great fit after his success with the Washington Huskies. I still think he is; he needs time to fill Saban's shoes. 

Oklahoma's win over the Crimson Tide is a monumental shift in Oklahoma's narrative in the SEC. This wasn't just another game that we will look back on and say, "that was a fun game." This is the game that Oklahoma fans will look back on because it proved to the OU loyal that we can in fact compete in the SEC. Games like this are what make college football so unique. No other sport in the world gives fans the feeling a game like tonight gives. 

To put it nicely, Oklahoma's transition from the Big XII to the SEC has been challenging. Up until this game, it looked like Oklahoma would possibly fall into consistent irrelevancy like Missouri and Texas A&M did when they moved from the Big XII to the SEC. Beating a team like Alabama, representing the pinnacle of college football, isn't just a win. It's a statement. It signifies the Sooners' ability to compete at the highest level. It proves that Brent Venables is our guy and can lead this team as they lay their foundation as an SEC team. Even when hope for this season has been lost, the boys still managed to rally and pull one out on Senior Night in Norman on a cool November evening in Primetime. 

This win against Alabama made Oklahoma bowl-eligible, marking their 25th consecutive season participating in the postseason.
