Quick Thoughts: Belichick to Chicago?

​I heard a rumor today that the New England Patriots would potentially be looking to move on from Bill Belichick if the Patriots lost this weekend in Germany to the Indianapolis Colts. It is no secret that the Chicago Bears will be replacing Matt Eberflus at the end of this season, and what a turn of events it would be if the Chicago Bears somehow landed Bill Belichick to lead this team. ​

In my opinion, if the New England Patriots release Bill Belichick after this weekend, the Chicago Bears need to pick him up immediately, fire Eberflus, and get Belichick on the next flight to Chicago. With eight games left in the season, that would give Belichick enough time to figure out what players he wants to keep and what players he wants to release this off-season and begin building for 2024.

A few weeks ago, a rumor leaked that Lincoln Riley was in consideration for the head coaching position in Chicago for next season. I voiced my disapproval of that decision, but now I am sitting on the other side of the aisle, totally in favor of hiring Belichick.

This is all just a rumor, but here I go again as a Chicago Bears fan, getting excited about something that will probably never happen. At the end of the day, I do not think that there can be a worse Coach than Eberflus to lead this football team.
