It is not in the Chicago Bears' best interest to draft another quarterback and trade Justin Fields. The last eight games have proven that this team can win games with Fields at the helm. By drafting a new quarterback, the last three seasons building around Fields would be for nothing, and the team would have to rebuild the offense around the new quarterback completely.
There is a reason there are a few teams we can speculate would give up significant assets to acquire Fields. The Patriots and the Falcons are the two potential landing spots for Fields should the Bears decide to trade him. Both would expect Fields to come in and make an immediate impact and would expect him to take their teams to the next level. There is a reason Fields is a hot commodity. Fields can be successful in Chicago; the organization just has some self-reflection they need to do. Drafting a new quarterback would reset our offense back to square one. Different quarterbacks have different needs to be successful. Since Justin Fields will be entering his fourth season with Chicago in 2024, the front office should have a good idea of what is needed for him to succeed. The team has already been building the offense around Fields, and as they are the 10th youngest team in the NFL, a lot of development still needs to be done before the Bears completely move on from Fields. If the Bears won't move on from Eberflus, they should not move on from Justin Fields. Now that we know Eberflus will be the coach for the Chicago Bears in 2024, my opinion that the Bears should keep Fields has only strengthened. If the Bears wanted to do a full reset with a new quarterback, they should have brought somebody new in to lead this team. In my perfect world, the Bears would keep Fields and use the #1 pick to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. or trade away the #1 pick for a ton of other picks to build up the defense and use their other first-round pick to pick up a decent receiver. I'm a big fan of Malik Nabers, who experts are speculating the Bears will use their second first-round pick on. The Bears are only a few pieces away from becoming a playoff team. As we have seen over the last eight games, the Bears are a good football team with Fields leading the charge. Starting 2024 with a new quarterback with no NFL experience will not elevate the Chicago Bears. At best, they'd be in the same position they're in now. By keeping Fields, the organization could use this offseason to continue developing him and the rest of the team so that they can take a step forward in 2024.
