The Big XII is a Joke

​The season hadn't ended the way all Oklahoma fans had hoped, but there's a lot to be happy about. Even with biased officiating, the Sooners turned things around from last season and finished with their first 10-win season of the Venables era. The Big XII looks like a joke, making Oklahoma State their new flagship team. Finally, we have a lot to look forward to joining the SEC! 

I understand those who are not pleased with the outcome of this season, but I do not blame Venables, the players, the coaching staff, or anybody at Oklahoma for not making it to the Big XII Title Game. The Big XII made it evident that they did not want either Oklahoma or Texas in the title game, and BYU unfortunately took on collateral damage in their matchup against Oklahoma State. There is no way the Big XII would let Oklahoma and Texas step away from the conference, with their last game being the Big XII Title Game. 

I'm not one to blame the refs for X, Y, and Z, and other fanbases will tell me to quit my complaining and call me a conspiracy theorist, but I am not just a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. I've been a Carolina Tar Heels fan my whole life, a Tennessee Volunteers fan since high school (which I'll have to redact my membership into the fanbase once OU joins the SEC), and a Nebraska fan since kindergarten (I know, odd being an OU and Nebraska fan), and I have never seen such lopsided officiating in my life. Like I've said in previous articles, Texas and Oklahoma fans are combining forces to call out the Big XII for this lopsided officiating. You're the issue when Texas and Oklahoma fans are teaming up against you. 

That said, for the first and only time in my life, I am rooting for Texas in the Big XII game. I so badly want to see Gundy and the Cowboys of Oklahoma State go down. I love that they are the Big XII's new princess and that they will try to make their flagship team moving into the future. A team that has a 31-117-7 record against Oklahoma and Texas. I find the whole ordeal comical. 

It looks like Oklahoma is heading to the Alamo Bowl to play Arizona on December 28. The Wildcats are coming off their best season since 2014 and only their second 9+ win season since the turn of the century. If we see Arizona in the Alamo Bowl, I expect a good matchup because I doubt many players will opt out, given Arizona doesn't have too many NFL prospects. 

Given the circumstances, I'm pleased with how this season ended. I think the two losses Oklahoma received were largely in part because of biased officiating. I'm excited for the Sooners to move into the SEC, not just for football but for other sports as well. I really can't wait to watch the softball team compete in the SEC. For now, we can enjoy a bowl appearance and hopefully give our seniors a decent goodbye!
