We sit here at the end of April, 2 months into the Nascar season. And I think it’s time to guess who will make it into the Cup Series Playoffs, and who’s gonna advance to the Championship race in Phoenix. We’ve only locked in 7 Drivers into the playoffs so far, and I doubt that the number gets above 13 before the Regular season finale at Darlington this season. I only say that because the top teams have finally found out how these cars work. There isn’t the same amount of parity that there was during the 1st season of the next gen car. Teams like Joe Gibbs racing (23XI included) and Hendrick motorsports have their cars dialed week in week out. And the Fords in their new Darkhorse mustangs have been underwhelming to say the least.
Winners so far in 2024
1 Plate Track and 2 Road courses remain on the regular season schedule, and obviously these are seen as more of a wildcard race where anyone can win. The rest of the tracks on the schedule feel like a lock for the top 10-12 drivers in the sport to win. And that’s why I think before we get to Darlington we’re only gonna have 13 winners in the Cup series. Here’s how I predict the season plays out race by race Dover - Denny Hamlin Kansas - Tyler Reddick Darlington - Kyle Larson Charlotte - William Byron WWT - Denny Hamlin Sonoma - Ty Gibbs Iowa - Josh Berry New Hampshire - Christopher Bell Nashville - William Byron Chicago - Michael Mcdowell Pocono - Kyle Larson Indy - Martin Truex Richmond - Denny Hamlin Michigan - Brad Kesolowski Daytona - Ryan Blaney Darlington - Denny Hamlin Yes, I know, “DENNY HAMLIN ARE YOU SERIOUS”, but he is one of the greatest regular season drivers we’ve ever seen and I do think he ends the regular season with the regular season championship and 6-7 wins. And this year feels a little different for that 11 team as well. But for the final 3 spots to make the playoffs, I think it’s gonna be Ross Chastain, Bubba Wallace, and Alex Bowman. With people Like Kyle Busch, Chase Briscoe, and Chris Bueshcer missing out slightly. So my playoff Prediction looks like this: Larson (Chevy), Elliot (Chevy), Byron (Chevy), Reddick (Toyota), Hamlin (Toyota), Bell (Toyota), Suarez (Chevy), Gibbs (Toyota), Berry (Ford), Mcdowell (Ford), Truex (Toyota), Keselowski (Ford), Blaney (Ford), Chastain (Chevy), Wallace (Toyota), Bowman (Chevy) And the First Four out in the Round of 16
Next Four out in the Round of 12
And that leaves us with 8 Larson, Byron, Reddick, Hamlin, Bell, Truex, Bowman, Gibbs And is it going to be this surprising seeing this many Hendrick and JGR guys in the final 8 and final 4, I don’t think so. That's why I have Larson, Hamlin, Byron, and Bell making the championship 4 With the current dominance of these drivers and the late round push Christopher Bell typically puts together in Clutch moments, I think it Just makes sense that these are the 4 we’ll see in Phoenix. I think this will be one of the closest battles we’ve seen for a championship in the final 4 era, with all drivers finishing in the top 6 And I think it breaks down like this 4.) Larson 3.) Byron 2.) Bell 1.)Hamlin YES, I SAID IT DENNY IS GOING TO GET HIS FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP AND HONESTLY I CAN’T BELIEVE I SAID IT MYSELF. But this just feels like the right time for Denny to finally win a ‘ship. He understands the car just as good as anyone, his dominance on short tracks this season, and his desire to win a championship all add up to him winning his first ever championship. And on top of that, I think if Denny hits 60 wins and wins a Championship, I think he goes off into the sunset and become a full time owner, and part time driver.
