I am one of those Braves fans that expect perfection. I am also one of those baseball fans that understand you lose 55 to 65 % of your games. Baseball is one of those sports, as I’m sure most of you know, where if you hit .300 for your career you're most likely going to the Hall of Fame. But I would be remiss in saying I've been worried and underwhelmed with the way the Braves have come out of the gate. We’re early in the season, and yes the Braves are 9-5 as of April 14th. But it feels as if they should be 11-3. Production has come from the least expected in the Lineup. Kelenic, Harris, and Ozuna. This time last year braves fans were calling for the organization to release the big bear. Now we realize if we don’t have him we probably have a losing record. Ozuna has turned it on these past 10 months, and I know it’s early but possibly MVP candidate? Maybe I'm crazy but he is at least the early season Braves MVP. But I am concerned with a few things. The injury bug has hit the Braves early, with Strider having reconstruction surgery on his UCL, this Braves rotation is looking real light. Fried has gotten lit up, so has Sale, and Allan Winans. A combined 4.74 ERA for the staff is highly concerning. With the strain on the staff you have to expect it to balloon over 5 here shortly. Luckily the Braves offense is Hot and scoring runs averaging 6.69 Per game, second in MLB behind the Brew Crew in milwaukee. The possibility of trading for a top end starter at the deadline has to be a high possibility at the moment, and dare I even mention bringing Trevor Bauer into the rotation. Huascar Ynoa is also down in Gwinnett rehabbing waiting for his return to the Big league club and could be the big boost of energy the Braves need. (Just went 4 innings allowing one run on Sunday) And the bullpen has been a pretty good piece of this team, but we need starters to eat more innings and allow for more rest for the pen if we want to be competitive entering into August and September. And I know it's early for Sean Murphy to be out, but I view this as a good opportunity for Chadwick Tromp to get some P.T and allow TDA to see more pitches early in the season. So hopefully Sean will have some more legs saved for later in the season when we need him. And maybe all of these postponed games for the Braves will allow us to extend a division lead later into the year, but we’ll really need Ronald Acuna to pick up the pace to allow for more run creation at the top of the lineup. We can only expect Arcia, Kelenic, Harris, and Ozuna to keep up the tear they are on for a little while longer before they come back down to earth (Though I hope they stay as high as the moon) I’ll stay addicted to watching this team and all the updates that will come with this ball club but we need to start developing that dog mentality now before we have to go into Philly again in the postseason.
