It's been two years since launching Oklistenhere.com, and man, was year two fun! We received our first sponsorship, created a relationship with a NASCAR team, had our best month regarding viewership, and my wife decided to step on board full-time!
During the NFL season, we brought in our first sponsor. Bojangles! Our audience enjoyed competing for a $25 gift card each week of the NFL season in our Bojangles Perfect Week Challenge, an event where participants would predict the winner of every NFL game each week, and whoever had the most accurate predictions would win the gift card.
This past year was also particularly special because of the relationship we have built with JTG Daugherty Racing. Mike Kelly, Ricky Stenhouse, Tab Boyd, and the team have all engaged with our content. These interactions have dug out my new love for NASCAR. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Last month, Oklistenhere.com had more visitors to the website than any other month since we opened up. In one month, we had more viewers than we did in 2021. On March 1st, after the final numbers had come in, I extended our ownership for the domain, so we are going to be around for a while.
Recently, my wife, host of Sydney Chronicles and Sydney's Recipes, came to me expressing her interest in playing a more vital role in the business moving into year three! Together we are still working out what exactly she will take charge of, but now that this is truly a family business with her 100% on board, I am very excited to see what we will create with one another.
I credit her with much of the success of Ok Listen Here. Those that know her know of her blunt and brutal honesty. Look at a few of her articles on Sydney Chronicles, and you'll see what I'm talking about. She does not hold back.
She has called me out when my articles were robotic, filled with nothing but stats that anybody could look up on their own, and not filled with my actual feelings about a particular topic. But, of course, I'm hard-headed, so I have been known to brush off a lot of her criticisms for a while before finally giving in. But when I did give in, boy, did our viewership skyrocket.
With her on board, we now have someone that can focus on the business throughout the day. What we also have is a creative mastermind. Sydney has brought a lot of ideas to the table, and we are now working together to get more projects started. On top of this, we are becoming more organized and more consistent with our content. Two factors that will elevate us even more heading into this year.
For those that have been along for the last two years, I thank you. Ok Listen Here is something that I am very passionate about, and it is my hope that I will be able to turn this into my full-time job one day. I'm a realist and know we are a long way off from accomplishing this, but I see it as a real possibility in the future.
Managing this business has come with ups and downs, but looking back on everything we have accomplished since launching is rewarding. I'm optimistic about the future. We accomplished a lot of great things in year two. Year three is only going to be even bigger!
