I want to preface this article by saying I have a wonderful husband and I love him very much. Also, this isn’t me complaining about the duties that I have taken upon myself or me saying that I have it harder than he does but I will say that women work harder than men (in some circumstances). For example today, on Good Friday, I woke up at 10 am, and yes I slept in, but did I really? Our puppy has had an ear infection and is extremely restless through the night so I have not slept for more than two consecutive hours since Sunday, April 2nd and it is now Friday, April 7th. So I have not been going to sleep until 3 or 4 am and I am waking up every two hours to either check on her or settle her down. But anyways I got up made my coffee and started my day of cleaning. I have done 4 loads of laundry and it is currently 9 pm when I am writing this and the last load is finally in the dryer. I washed the dishes and then had to wash another load because I had to make rolls for Easter and I wash them by hand because our dishwasher does not get them clean (not complaining just explaining).
After that, I talked to my mom for a while as I was picking up around the apartment and tidying things up. Once I got off the phone with my mom Dawson was about to get off work so I played with the puppies a little bit to get some energy out. This may not seem like hard work but I have two high-energy Australian Shepherds and when it is raining outside and we can’t go on a walk in the morning, getting some of that energy out through playing and training is a must. Dawson got home shortly after we finished and I started the five-hour process of making homemade rolls and they will be finished at about 10:30 tonight. We ate dinner and I got to relax for a little bit as we watched our show The Ranch on Netflix, with me intermittently getting up to work on my bread dough. Then after all that is said and done, I have to wash my hair, pack all of our stuff up to go to Charlotte tomorrow morning, and get everything ready to be taken out to the car when we are ready to leave. With all that being said, I know it sounds like complaining but it’s not I promise. I just want to provide people with a little insight that stay-at-home moms or dog moms work their tails off and our job doesn’t end at 5:30 or 6. It ends when we go to sleep. Luckily this week I was on break from school so I only had to go to one class but normally I am in class for 8 hours on Monday and then I have to come and cook dinner and clean. Could I enlist Dawson’s help in all of this? Yes yes, I could but he doesn’t know how to clean right, and when you are married to someone who is OCD about cleanliness it normally just turns into an argument. I appreciate my husband for going to work all day and allowing me to stay home but what I don’t think some people realized is that I work all day too. Whether it’s cooking, cleaning, going to school, or working with puppies I am working day in and day out until I go to sleep for the most part and I don't get paid for that work. This life is definitely not for everyone and I know that there are women out there who work AND do all of that other stuff by themselves even more proving my statement that women have to do more than men. Now, remember at the beginning of this article I said I love my husband and I do and I also appreciate him so very much because he does so much for me to try to lighten my load, but it’s still a hard knock life ya know? We are living our dream and I couldn’t be any happier but Dawson could you please stop producing so many dirty clothes ;). P.S. Don’t get an Australian Shepherd if you don’t want to vacuum a million times in the spring…
