I have to preface this “Sydney Chronicle” with when I was a kid I was a very imaginative little girl and I still am. Everyone in my family always told me that I would end up being a writer and well Ok Listen Here gives me that outlet. So now on to this crazy story. When I was about 3 years old Hurricane Katrina hit Mississippi and me and my family went down there because my uncle lived down there. I don’t remember much from this trip but I do remember that while we were there, I found my dragonfly family. Now at just three years old, I convinced myself and tried to convince my family that I come from dragonflies and that they had all died in Hurricane Katrina except for some “long-lost cousins”. I then told everyone that I was adopted by my “parents” (my biological parents) and that someday I would find the rest of my dragonfly family. Now I always did like bugs when I was growing up, especially butterflies and ladybugs, so no one is really sure where the whole dragonfly thing came from.
For years and years, everyone in the family would joke every time they saw a dragonfly that it was a long-lost family member that had come to find me. I mean I am almost 20 years old and the joke is still going on. Just last year my mom and I were in the grocery store and mom saw a dead dragonfly, turned to me, and said “oh no! That was your cousin!”. Looking back on my childhood this is my favorite memory, probably because everyone in the family went along with it but who knows. Yes, I know this makes me sound crazy, but that’s fine because I am crazy. I hope everyone enjoyed reading the craziness that was my childhood and I have plenty more stories to tell!
