The Sunday lineup for Wild Card Weekend from the outside looking in looked like there was only going to be one exciting game. Dallas vs. San Francisco. If you watched all three games, you would know that the Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia and the Kansas City vs. Pittsburgh games were not worth spending six or so hours on the couch to watch teams get run through. The Cowboys vs. 49ers game did not get interesting until the last few possessions when it looked like Dallas would come back and win the game.
After the National Championship game between Alabama and Georgia, I could not help think of the quote from Whiplash in Iron Man 2, "If you could make God bleed, people would cease to believe in him.". It is not often that Nick Saban's Alabama team loses to an SEC opponent more than twice a season. Since 2010 when Alabama lost to South Carolina, LSU, and Auburn, the Crimson Tide have only lost two SEC teams in a season twice, both times coming within the last three years. Finally, the day has come that Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace are no longer working for the Chicago Bears. If you have listened to The Little Aussie Podcast with me and Ok Listen Here Athlete Tyler Keaton, you have heard my thoughts on the Chicago Bears organization. The inspiration behind this journal entry follows George H. McCaskey's end-of-season press conference following the release of Nagy and Pace. George H. McCaskey is the current Chairman of the Chicago Bears and George Halas' grandchild for those unaware.
Cincinnati had somewhat of a Cinderella season, pulling off what seemed impossible in earning a College Football Playoff berth. A place that seemed to only belong to Power 5 teams, now infiltrated by a Group of 5 team. I hated on Cincinnati for as long as they were in the running to make it to the playoffs. Upon doing a little bit of research, I concluded that if a Group of 5 team made it to the playoffs, it would have to be this Cincinnati unit.
