The College Football National Championship is set to kick off Monday night at 7:30! I have a love/hate relationship with the CFB National Championship because it is one of the most electric games of the year, but it's the end of the College Football Season. The appearance of an unsuspecting team for the second year in a row makes this year's playoffs extra exciting. Let's start with Georgia. It's no secret that their defense is the most intimidating unit in the entirety of the NCAA. Against eight SEC opponents, they allowed less than 100 points. Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships. That was the case last year for Georgia, and if they're going to win it again this year, they'll have to do it the same way.
TCU was and still is a controversial selection for the College Football Playoffs this year. But after beating Michigan, a lot of the doubters were silenced. Not all, but a lot. The offensive trio of Max Duggan, Kendre Miller, and Quentin Johnson has been electric all season long. The trio is led by arguably the best offensive line in the Big XII. TCU's offense against Georgia's defense is enough to draw in a few extra viewers of the game. The safe bet this year is obviously Georgia, with their 12.5-point spread in this game. If TCU is going to pull away with a win this game, it will come down to the quarterback battle. Max Duggan is the better quarterback in this game, but Stetson Bennett has a good defense that could put them up 14-0, which would be enough to seal the deal. For the sake of representing the Big XII, I would like to see TCU pull away with a win this Monday. The offensive trio, the little bit of adversity they had against Kansas State, and the fact that it is difficult to win back-to-back national championships give TCU a chance. Georgia is just too powerful for me to vote against them. Any team in the college football playoffs coming from the SEC will be hard for me to vote against. This year, I'm going to take Georgia. It would be awesome if TCU pulled it off, but Georgia will take the cake!
