I’m not really a Clippers fan because I typically don’t pull for any teams in Los Angeles except for the Dodgers, and that’s only because my father-in-law likes them. Still, I am a Russell Westbrook fan, which, by association, makes me a Clippers fan. When I first heard that James Harden was going to Los Angeles to team back up with Russell Westbrook, I had mixed feelings. The inner 12-year-old in me was super excited to see the duo team up again. There is the other side of me that has been keeping up with James Harden’s antics over the last few years in Houston and Philadelphia. On paper, the Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden squad should not lose a game all season, but as we saw last night with the New York Knicks, this team can bleed a little. Although they lost the first game as a squad, someone pointed out that this team should not lose a seven-game series whenever it comes time for playoffs.
For George, Harden, and Westbrook, I feel this is the last opportunity they have to win a ring. Each of them are, in my opinion past their prime. Still outstanding basketball players just passed their prime, and they have played more games than what they have left. I genuinely hope this is the season they all get rings because it would be a shame for these three superstars to retire without ever winning an NBA championship. In all honesty though, I only care if Russell Westbrook gets a ring.
