As we get closer to the NBA draft, the rumor that the Charlotte Hornets will trade the number two pick in this year’s NBA draft for Zion Williamson continues to heat up. The way I see it, the number two pick is more valuable to the New Orleans Pelicans than Zion Williamson is to the Charlotte Hornets. Zion and the Pelicans are already looking to part ways. The Hornets have two excellent prospects in Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson that they could pick up with the second pick. If Zion gets sent to Charlotte, I think I speak for all Hornets fans when I say we want to see a future first-round pick or another role player come with him.
Since Zion entered the league, he has not done anything impressionable. However, Zion still has a significant amount of potential to be a great basketball player in this league, but he gets a bad rep because he has spent a large percentage of his time in the league on the sidelines. It would be an excellent move for the Charlotte Hornets because of his Carolina roots. Fan interest would increase significantly because of his time playing high school basketball in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and college basketball at Duke. It is a weird time to be a Charlotte basketball fan because Michael Jordan has sold his majority stake in the team, and we have the possibility of Zion Williamson joining the roster. The changes to the roster and management make for an exciting yet nerve-racking time to be a Hornets fan.
